Addressing food safety challenges in rapidly developing food systems

Abstract During the past decade, there has been growing awareness of importance food safety in developing countries. WHO estimates for 2010 show that burden illness from worldwide is comparable to malaria and tuberculosis. Furthermore, dietary transition associated market transformation will alter possibly increase risks. Agricultural economic research moved beyond question how standards constitute potential export barriers consider incentives policies may improve system performance rapidly economies. In this regard, paper considers state art answering four questions: How important countries terms both public health performance? Why likely become more costly as pass through transition? Are improved emerge? What kind can help ensure a safer supply country's systems? While much still unknown, improving feasible, but high income countries, rarely simple achieve.
